Concord,
NC - November 17th, 2007
Justin Lloyd ended the Concord Motorsports
Park season with a strong second place finish in the No. 43
A&J Motorsports, Tiger Tom Pistone Race Cars, Lake Norman Counseling
Service sponsored race car Saturday during the Legends
Mason-Dixon Meltdown. Drivers from up and down the east
coast were present for the last big race of the year at
Concord.
“Practice on Friday was pretty good,”
reported the Mooresville, N.C. teen. “We were breaking in
tires and got the lap times down were we needed them.” The
team spent most of Friday working on setup, getting the car
dialed in for the heat race. That race got delayed from Friday
night until Saturday morning when the track’s lighting
system had problems, sending everyone home until the next
day.
When Lloyd returned to the track for the
race, he started sixth in the third heat, worked through
traffic smoothly and won, earning the 3rd of 22 starting
positions for the feature.
“I ran second after the start of the main
event. The race had a couple of cautions and the top three
cars pulled away from the field,” commented Lloyd. "I
sat in second or third place during most of the race,
just sitting back waiting for a final move at the end of the
50 lap race".
The final restart was for a
Green/White/Checker and he “knew something would happen,”
with the front two drivers beating and banging just a few laps
earlier, so he used caution instead of charging to the front. “I got
second by holding back,” demonstrating the adaptability and
maturity to read the opposition and to adjust to a car with
rear brakes that were “a little tight.”
"I think we could have gotten the win
if it weren't for having our brakes adjusted a little to
tight. It caused my rear end to break loose a little coming in
the corner." Lloyd commented "It's been a great 2007
season and I look forward to 2008."
