Justin Lloyd Late Night Win
Justin
Lloyd closes out the late night with a win.
Concord, N.C. - February 22nd, 2008
Just like last week, the racing action at
Concord
Motorsports
Park
went well into the night. Just like last week, Justin
Lloyd was strong on the track. Again, just like last week
Lloyd took home a trophy, but instead of the third-place prize,
Lloyd ran out front crossing the line first, taking home the big
trophy as the winner in the Semi-Pro division Legends feature.
“The race was awesome,” said Lloyd. “We were able to
start at the pole after winning the heat race and I was able to
take advantage of the clean air we had and stay out front out of
trouble. I think that was the key tonight; just staying out of
the middle of the pack and just staying clean, driving my own
race.”
Lloyd might have been out front in the race, but
after an oil spill from a competitor blowing a motor, Lloyd made
sure to keep his car clear of the slick spots on the track.
“I saw there was oil up top there and I was making sure to just
keep calm coming out of the corner for the first couple laps,”
explained Lloyd. “Sure enough I came out of the corner
and the car was real loose. I just watched my mirror to
make sure I had a little space behind me so I could ease into
the throttle a little bit more than usual.”
The start of Lloyd’s season this year puts him on the map early
as a driver to contend with each week.
“The start of the year has been great so far. Last
year we started off with a win and this year we started of with
a good strong third place finish and won tonight. It puts
us in a good position to move forward and get better throughout
the rest of the year. We have some good momentum going into
wherever we decide to go to next.”
